We have invested in a cameo CF90 power flushing unit and a CombiMag Dual, which is a magnetic filter and heater.
What is power flushing?
Simple really, it’s getting rid of the old water inside the radiators and replacing it with new clean water.
Why?
For a number of reasons:
- If your radiators are hot on the top but cold in the middle or have cold spots on them, this is a sign of sludge in the system.
- If you have a combi boiler and while you are running the hot water it keeps dropping cold and then heating up again , most noticeable in the shower, this could be due to sludge in the plate heat exchange.
- If you install a new boiler I strongly recommend a power flush, as most boilers come with a five year warranty, but the boiler manufactures are trying their best to get out of the warranty. If the primary water (the water inside the radiators) is dirty, it will be blamed for nearly any fault on the boiler.
You will find many boiler insurance companies do the same, you pay month after month and one day when you do have a problem they say sorry for you, you primary water is too dirty. We can’t carry out the repair until you have had one of our power flushes for an EXTRA £900-00!!!!
If you have had a power flush make sure you have put inhibitor in and always fit a magnetic filter on the return pipe for further protection.
